3. SNI Certificate and Marking

To comply, local producers or importers must apply to receive a K3L registration number which is valid for five years and must be clearly displayed on the product or its packaging.

To obtain SNI certification, manufacturers or importers must complete a structured conformity assessment process through an accredited certification body.

The applicant submits a certification request to an accredited LSPro, along with product documentation and relevant technical information.
Step 2 – Document Review
The certification body reviews the application and supporting documents to verify completeness and determine applicable SNI requirements.
Step 3 – Sampling
Product samples are selected for evaluation to ensure they represent the product to be certified.
Step 4 – Testing and Evaluation
Samples are tested and assessed against relevant SNI standards, typically in accredited laboratories.
Step 5 – Factory Audit and Quality Assessment
Where applicable, the manufacturer’s production process or quality management system may be audited to confirm consistent compliance.
Step 6 – Certification Decision and Issuance
Following successful evaluation, a certificate of conformity is issued, allowing the product to carry the SNI mark.
Step 7 – Surveillance
Ongoing monitoring may include periodic testing or inspection of products from factories or the market to ensure continued compliance.
6. Certification Schemes
SNI certification can follow different schemes depending on the product type and certification requirements.

Scheme 1b: Product testing combined with assessment of the production process or quality system, including ongoing surveillance
Scheme 4: Product testing and evaluation based on representative samples
