SABER System Update: Key HS Codes to Change in Saudi Arabia from January 1, 2026
Saudi Arabiaโs SABER system updates HS codes on Jan 1, 2026; existing certificates stay valid, and customs will auto-assign new codes at clearance.
Saudi Arabiaโs SABER platform will undergo a significant update on January 1, 2026, when a number of existing HS (Harmonized System) tariff codes will be removed and replaced with alternatives. This change is part of ongoing efforts by SASO and Saudi Customs to align product certifications with the latest customs regulations and ensure smoother clearance processes at ports and borders.
What Importers and Exporters Need to Know:
Existing Certificates Remain Valid: Product Certificates of Conformity (PCoCs) and Shipment Certificates of Conformity (SCoCs) issued under the old codes will continue to be valid until their original expiry dates.
Automatic Code Updates at Customs: When goods are presented for clearance, Saudi Customs will assign the updated HS codes automatically, ensuring certificates remain compliant even after the old codes are phased out.
Prepare for Future Shipments: Businesses should review the updated HS code list in the SABER system and ensure that any new certificates issued after January 1, 2026, use the correct codes. This helps avoid delays, misclassification issues, or non-compliance penalties.
