Senior Product Compliance Consultant - India

Own end-to-end Indian regulatory execution for product compliance, certification, and permitting across multiple product categories as our first on-the-ground presence in India.

Responsibilities

Indian Regulatory Ownership

  • Own and manage India regulatory compliance and permitting across all relevant product categories, including electrical & electronic products (BIS safety, WPC wireless), food & beverage (FSSAI import requirements, labelling reviews, import permit coordination), consumer products (toys, household goods, general merchandise), cosmetics and other regulated consumer categories (CDSCO where applicable)

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Indian authorities, certification bodies, laboratories, and partners

  • Manage regulatory applications, submissions, follow-ups, approvals, renewals, and validity tracking

Client & Project Execution

  • Handle client-facing regulatory execution for both international clients exporting into India and local Indian clients requiring compliance and certification support

  • Coordinate closely with internal global teams (technical, testing, certification) to ensure accurate and timely project delivery

  • Provide clear, practical regulatory guidance to clients in professional business English

Documentation & Process

  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory documentation, certificates, permits, and supporting technical files

  • Maintain structured records of approvals, permits, and regulatory validity

  • Contribute to the development of internal India regulatory playbooks and SOPs as the business scales

Local Account & Relationship Support

  • Support local Indian clients with account management-style engagement where required (progress updates, regulatory explanations, coordination)

  • Assist with building long-term relationships with local clients, labs, and authorities

  • Identify recurring client needs and regulatory pain points to support service improvement (not sales-driven)

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years' experience in regulatory affairs, product compliance, certification, or import/export permitting in India

  • Strong working knowledge of India's regulatory landscape across multiple product categories

  • Practical, execution-focused experience with BIS (electrical safety / conformity), WPC (wireless / communications devices), FSSAI import permits and processes, and food & consumer product regulatory requirements

  • Comfortable handling multiple product categories simultaneously

  • Confident working independently as the sole local specialist

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in other South Asian countries is advantageous, but not required

Communication & Working Style

  • English: fluent (written and spoken - client-facing)

  • Hindi: working proficiency (for authority interaction) is advantageous but not required

  • Clear communicator, pragmatic problem-solver, and highly organised

  • Comfortable working with international clients and teams across time zones

Education

  • Degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory if experience is strong
