Requirements for Importing Adhesive Products into Saudi Arabia
Technical Regulation Scope
The Technical Regulation for Glue and Adhesive Materials, set by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), ensures the safety and quality of such products and materials in the Saudi market.
This regulation covers various types of Adhesives, including:-
Tapes
Glues (wax, liquid, powder or dough.)
Certification Requirements
The importer is required to obtain SABER Product Certification. SABER certification must be issued by a SASO-notified Certification Body, such as XDS Solutions.
Assessment requirements:
Test reports issued by an accredited laboratory
These specific product types also need a factory audit: Wax and liquid glues
Labelling Requirements for Adhesives and Glues
General
- Label firmly attached and not easily removable
- No misleading wording, prohibited phrases, or offensive content
- All the information contained in the labels shall be correct and proven
Language
- Language must be in Arabic (or Arabic & English)
Identification
- Product description/name
- Model name/number
- Trademark/brand or manufacturer’s name
Production/Expiry Data
- A production batch code (for traceability)
- Production date
- Production date
Ingredients
- Main ingredients or chemical components, especially hazardous substances
Type
- Type of adhesive (e.g. liquid adhesive, hot-melt/wax adhesive, adhesive tape, etc.)
Usage
- Clear statement of the intended use of the adhesive (e.g. wood bonding, paper, packaging, construction, general purpose, etc.)
- Any limitations of use (materials not suitable for bonding)
Instructions
- Instructions for use, handling and storage
Country of Origin
- In the format of "Made in [Country]"
Warnings
- Any warnings (if applicable)
