SABER Technical Regulation for Building Materials (Part 5)
Technical Regulation Scope
The Technical Regulation for Building Materials Part 5: Pipes used in Water, Electricity and Gas Networks, set by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), ensures the safety and quality of pipes in the Saudi market.
This regulation covers various types of pipes used in water, electricity and gas networks, including:
Solid tubes of ethylene polymers/ propylene polymers
Solid PVC pipes and Solid pipes from other plastic material
Welded pipes
Tubes with a square or rectangular cross-section
Pipe fittings of non-malleable cast iron: elbow, sleeves, flanges
Various other molded or non-cast pipe fittings, welding or non-welded fittings, elbows, curved parts and threaded sleeves
Pipes or pipe fittings that are made of copper alloys
Certification Requirements
The importer is required to obtain SABER Product Certification. SABER certification must be issued by a SASO-notified Certification Body, such as XDS Solutions.
Assessment requirements:
Test reports issued by an accredited laboratory
Factory audit
Labelling Requirements for Building Materials: Pipes (Water/Electric/Gas)
General
- Label firmly attached and not easily removable
- No misleading wording, prohibited phrases, or offensive content
- All the information contained in the labels shall be correct and proven
Language
- Language must be in Arabic (or Arabic & English)
Identification
- Product description/name
- Model name/number
- Trademark/brand or manufacturer’s name
Country of Origin
- In the format of "Made in [Country]"
Warnings/Instructions
- Warnings/Instructions
